The mission of the Olympia Symphony Orchestra is to provide the highest quality live music to enrich, educate and entertain an expanding audience. The OSO presents five subscription concerts a year at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Olympia, as well as an annual free summer concert on the lawn of the state capitol. The Wine Loft is located in a small historic building in downtown Olympia, Washington next door to The Olympia Seafood Company. It is on Percival Landing on the lower portion of Puget Sound with boat moorage less than one block away and the Phoenix Inn Hotel right across the street. The store is filled with wines in all price ranges from many parts of the world. Wine tastings are held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays most months. We have very competitive pricing with case discounts.

Paradise for organic food, fresh food, gluten free food! Olympia food co-op uses local suppliers whenever they can, looks for lower sugar options, and has very nice staff to help. Anyone can shop there, and you can become a member very easily.

"I met Kristi Dohring from Paprika Catering, through her booth at the Tumwater Farmer’s Market. Her food was so unusual and exciting, that I decided to hire her to cater a dinner party I was hosting. While I admit that I can’t really pronounce the different dishes, Kristi was very good about explaining what the dishes were. She allowed me to sample some of the foods before we arrived at a decision for the party. My tongue simply rejoiced under the flavors. I loved the stuffed cabbage, (who knew it would be so good?) and the goulash left me with that warm fuzzy feeling of being wrapped in a blanket on a cold winter night. I am determined to learn to make her light, crisp, cucumber salad for myself, but so far only Kristi can create such a simple yet masterful salad. My guests tried everything with open minds and loved it. I am so delighted to share the success of my party with anyone who is interested in hiring Paprika Catering. Kristi is a joy to work with, and her food is amazing!"

A narrated tram tour of the free-roaming area allows you to see bison, Roosevelt elk, moose, mountain goats and other native animals, up close in their natural habitats. A self-guided walking tour along the paved trails in the core of the park provides the opportunity to see grizzly bears, wolves and more in naturalistic exhibits. The park is an easy drive from Tacoma and Seattle. It’s open year-round, with each season offering something new to experience.

The Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge is a wildlife preserve operated by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service on the Nisqually River Delta near Puget Sound in northeastern Thurston County, Washington and northwestern Pierce County, Washington. The refuge is located just off Interstate 5, between the cities of Tacoma and Olympia.

There are 25 county owned regional park sites, which account for approximately 2,800 acres of property and 47.5 miles of recreational trail corridors.

Thurston County recently acquired the Chehalis-Western Trail North consisting of 5.3 miles from Martin Way to Woodard Bay. Updated trail maps and other information will be available here after January 2010.

This parcel was purchased in 1996 with a grant from the Washington Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation. The centerpiece to the park is the fountain which entices children of all ages to run through the circular array of waterjets. The fountain was made possible by a local family donation.

Olympia Farmers Market is a very short drive or walking distance to Short Stay Lodgings. It opens on April 1 through December 31 rain or shine as the new facility is a solar powered covered open air market. Thursday through Sunday at 10AM until 3PM. Locally grown food, fine crafts, and live music.

Mount St. Helens Visitor Center at Seaquest / Silver Lake - stop on the way back down. Located at the 5 mile marker on State Route 504, it is the first visitor center you will pass by once leaving Interstate 5 from exit 49. It’s the original Visitor Center built in 1993 and the displays are rather dated but if you have time stop later on the way back down the highway. I would visit the other Centers first for the optimum experience. This center is operated by the Washington State Parks Department. 360/274-2131 Hours are: Summer: 10-5, 7 days a week.

Mount Rainier National Park is a United States National Park located in southeast Pierce County and northeast Lewis County in Washington state. It was established on March 2, 1899 as the fifth national park in the United States.

Mount St. Helens National Park was established as the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument in 1982 and was operated under control of the U.S. Forest Service. In 2009 the process began to transition Mount St. Helens to National Park Status. This process is still underway and the Park is currently still classified as a National Monument under USFS management.

Olympic National Park is located in the U.S. state of Washington, in the Olympic Peninsula. The park can be divided into four basic regions: the Pacific coastline, alpine areas, the west side temperate rainforest and the forests of the drier east side. U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt originally created Mount Olympus National Monument in 1909[3] and after Congress voted to authorize a re-designation to National Park status, President Franklin Roosevelt signed the legislation June 29, 1938. In 1976, Olympic National Park became an International Biosphere Reserve, and in 1981 it was designated a World Heritage Site. In 1988, Congress designated 95 percent of the park as the Olympic Wilderness.
