Walk to Farmer's Market
Staying at Short Stay Lodgings is a way to stay connected to your food and your diet. Buying local is not only a way to support the economy of Olympia but it is a healthy choice for mind, body, and spirit. While many of our local stores have locally grown food from either Thurston County or the greater Washington State, I find the best authentic choices and the most fun with fine crafts and live music on stage is at our own Olympia Farmer's Market. You can often meet the folks who have grown the food or caught the fresh catch of the day themselves. When you stay with us, you have a full eat-in kitchen right in your own apartment featuring all you need to create a home cooked local meal. From wine glasses to stainless steel cookware, cook books, spices, knife sharpeners, and barbecue grill you find everything you need to create a wonderful locally cooked meal for your family and friends. The satisfaction of being able to invite folks over for home cooking of fine local quisine while traveling far from home is priceless.
Short Stay Lodgings also provides use of our bicycles to bike from Short Stay Lodgings to Olympia Farmer's Market. We provide you with the bikes, helmuts, and re-usable shopping bags. You need to rent them for $1 per day.
You can walk to Farmer's Market on Capitol Way and visit all the shops. Pit stop for a latte' at Bread Peddler or head out 4th Street (great shops on fourth as well)to the boardwalk( past the wine shop and fish market) and walk on the dock all the way to the market, While you enjoy the view of the Capitol, the Cascades, and South Puget Sound and breath in the great Northwest air, you may see some otters, eagles, and an occasional whale. Whether you are on MAIN STREET (downtown) Olympia or the waterfront , it will take you about 10-15 minutes walking without stops. Eat well, exercise and enjoy all that a vacation rental like Short Stay has to offer you.
